Meet Murray

After 25 years in the New Zealand Fire Service, Murray knew about all there was to know about fighting fires.  In his new property management career, there is the ‘occasional fire’ to put out his says wryly, but ‘not the ones that require fire-fighting gear’.  Theses days, he prefers to avoid them.  ‘Mostly this business is about being committed to finding the best tenants and managing all aspects of my clients’ properties. That’s why they come to me in the first place – they just want peace of mind’.   He prides himself on his dependability.

Murray and his wife Joy began their vocation in property management as moteliers in the small central North Island town of Taihape – gumboot-throwing capital of New Zealand!.   The couple spent four and a half years in Taihape before returning to their Auckland roots.   They wasted no time finding more challenges in property management.  Joy is now the building manager of a central Auckland city apartment complex, whilst Murray has been steadily building a substantial property management portfolio.

With the exception of four years in Taihape, (where Murray claims to have thrown not a solitary gumboot) both have spent most of our lives on Auckland’s North Shore.  Now enjoying the convenience of central city living, Murray believes the future of city dwelling is rosy.  Dense suburban traffic and vehicle running costs will persuade more and more to live and work in central Auckland, he believes.

Joy and Murray have been married for 37 years, have two lovely daughters and one grandson - very soon to be two!   He has long been interested in community service and has belonged to a number of service clubs including Lions and Rotary for the last 26 years.

Leading a balanced life has always mattered to Murray. ‘I follow and support New Zealand in both rugby and cricket and I am a keen skier.  I try to get down to Mt Ruapehu as often as I can manage in the winter!  I also enjoy mountain biking and golf, which I play every week. I really enjoy live music and have a large collection of mainly blues, rock and some Irish’.

Murray has spent much of the last two years working to build a strong and specialised property management business. ‘The majority of my clients are in central Auckland apartments, but recently I have expanded into suburban areas as well. I find it really fulfilling to find great tenants for my clients’, he says, smiling confidently.  What more does a landlord want?
